- E&E News reports the Environmental Protection Agency is expected to release a new rule requiring states to review the cybersecurity plans of more than 1,000 water utility companies, according to Anne Neuberger, the deputy national security adviser for cyber and emerging technology. The anticipated rule comes after a hacker tapped into a water utility operating system in Oldsmar, Fla., last year in an attempt to increase treatment chemicals of the water supply to dangerous levels.
