Grid:
- E&E Climatewire reports searing temperatures pushed Texas’ power grid to the brink yesterday, offering a vivid illustration of the challenges that face an evolving electricity sector as the world warms.
- Bloomberg reports that almost all of the large bitcoin miners in Texas, including Riot Blockchain Inc., Argo Blockchain PLC and Core Scientific Inc., shut off their facilities on Monday as a heat wave pushed the state’s power grid to the brink. The shutdown freed up over 1,000 megawatts worth of power, or over 1% of total grid capacity, said Lee Bratcher, president of Texas Blockchain Council.
