Coal:
- The Wall Street Journal reports that last summer, Northern Indiana Public Service Co. NI -0.08% planned to retire two of its five remaining coal-fired power plants by 2023. Now, it plans to do away with all of them over the next decade, and buy more solar and wind power instead.
- Argus reports the DOE has increased the funding it may provide for university research into scientific challenges and technology issues associated with improving performance of fossil fuel turbines.
